LS002: Perc 'Swords' OUT NOW!!

The debut release from Lost Souls Recordings saw praise and intense support from Dj’s such as Laurent Garnier, Meat Katie, Carl Cox, Dj Chloe etc with many citing the Perc remix of ‘Hooked’ as a high point. Not to disappoint their rapidly growing fanbase the label follows things up with ‘Swords’ the new single from the aforementioned Perc.

Perc AKA Ali Wells has become one of the leading figure on the London techno scene, interspersing releases for high profile labels such as Kompakt and Drumcode with recordings for his own Perc Trax label. Whilst not in the studio or handling A&R, Ali can be found Dj’ing around the globe bringing his unique take on techno to the world’s dancefloors.

The ‘Swords’ release is based around 2 original tracks, title cut ‘Swords’ and the interestingly titled ‘Trampstyle’. The first of the 2 is a roundly solid piece of bone shaking techno with pounding drums and off kilter stabs building a hypnotic atmosphere. The intensity builds by the second with layers of metallic percussion and heavily effected hits leading to a middle drop that should drive the dancefloor wild.

‘Trampstyle’ has a more glitchy and minimal vibe. Dark, edgy and brilliant.

Remixes come courtesy of Misc. Who returns the favour for Perc’s remix on his EP with an outstanding rework of ‘Swords’. Driving and relentless, this sounds like the machines have finally taken control.

The Alpha Rhythm mix of ‘Trampstyle’ provides a beautifully twisted piece of dubstep whose warbling bass and half time snares round of this package nicely.
